Colleen Kummet, PhD, is a statistician expert and senior analytics manager with General Dynamics Information Technology and has over 15 years of experience with statistical analysis of large health, genetic and government databases. She serves as the Program Director for the Research, Measurement, Assessment, Design and Analysis (RMADA) and program lead for the Health Plan Innovations GDIT prime contract. She has served in a primary role on CMS’ Chronic Condition Data Warehouse (CCW) supporting the design and implementation of analytic software and tools to enable ML/AI functionality in the analysis of CMS administrative data in the AWS Cloud. Dr. Kummet has led GDIT work on several ML/AI projects including the Enhanced Longitudinal Database featuring ML models to understand drivers of high-cost Medicare services, CMS Artificial Intelligence Health Outcomes Challenge, COVID-19 Open Research Dataset ML/AI Challenge, and Machine Learning to Predict Dialysis Facility Mortality Rates. She has led ML/AI trainings designed to teach CMS and CDC staff how to use ML/AI models in Python and R on AWS to analyze Medicare and Medicaid health data. Dr. Kummet is the author of 22 peer-reviewed scientific papers including recent publications in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. Her current research includes Medicare drug pricing and health outcomes research of nursing, skilled nursing and home health Medicare populations. Dr. Kummet earned a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Iowa College of Public Health and master’s degrees in biostatistics and mathematics.
